Assuming Jack plays against Royston Town on Saturday, our long serving goalkeeper will be making his 400th first team appearance for the club.
There are just 10 players over the club’s 93-year history that have made 400 or more first team appearances so Jack Harding is about to join an elite group, The ten, with number of appearances shown, are:
Pete Svenson 619
Jody McKay 588
Dave Matthews 585
Ian Bowyer 546
Kieran Sullivan 534
Ollie Stanbridge 495
George Redknap 468
Ady Fuller 464
Joey Wilson 455
David Woodland 452
Jack originally came through the Banbury United youth and reserve sides, making his first team debut as a 16-year-old back in April 2009 in a Buckingham Charity Cup semi-final home first leg game against Bicester Town, keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win. Jack would make another four first team appearances for the Puritans over the next few seasons, all in cup games, before leaving the club in search of regular first team football.
After a spell with Hellenic League Division One side Hook Norton, he joined Premier Division side Ardley United for the start of season 2013/14 where over the course of the next two seasons he established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Hellenic League.
Jack returned to Banbury United for the start of season 2015/16, making his league debut for the club at Marlow on Tuesday 11th August 2015, going on to play a key role in that season’s Division One South & West promotion winning side, missing just one league game and keeping 20 clean sheets in his 41 league appearances.
Jack is now in his tenth season as the club’s number 1 goalkeeper, his 399 appearances being made up of 324 in league games and 75 in cup games.
Well done Jack from everyone at Banbury United.
