Statement from Kelvin Langmead
Without doubt one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But one I believe is the right one. I’ve sat where the players are right now, I’ve felt what they’re feeling, and I believe they need change. They need a new voice, a new approach, something different to allow them to move forward. I’ve given it my all, I’ve thrown everything I have at it, but unfortunately sometimes it just doesn’t work out, no matter how much you want it too.
I care deeply about this football club. So, there’s no one more disappointed about this than me. My feelings run far deeper than having just been the manager. This club gave me my love back for the game at a time where I thought it was all over. It gave me success, it gave me memories I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. And although this season hasn’t worked out, that will never be taken away.
I’d like to thank Wayne and the Board for giving me this opportunity, my staff for everything they’ve done for me and the players for all their efforts. I’ve no doubt they have what it takes to turn this form around.
And lastly, to the fans and volunteers: you guys are the heartbeat of this football club. You are what makes it special. Stick with the lads, they need you more than ever.
All the best, Langers
