The Government’s announcement on Tier allocations relating to Covid Areas may well have a bearing on our return to play.

The Government’s announcement on Tier allocations relating to Covid Areas and the implications of those Tiers obviously has a bearing on our return to play.

There are eight teams in the Southern League Premier Central Division who are in Tier 3 and under the current restrictions travel in/out of Tier 3 areas is not permitted nor are supporters for matches, i.e. these clubs have to play home games behind closed doors.

Ourselves and the rest of the teams in the league are in Tier 2 and one of the restrictions here is that alcohol can only be served as part of a substantial meal. There is no information about any variance on this for takeaway service for food or drink. This would severely impact our matchday secondary spend.

We know the League’s Board met for an Emergency Meeting today to discuss the implications of the aforementioned and what course of action would possibly need to be taken in the best interests of Clubs and the Competition. There were further meetings taking place today, along with a meeting on Saturday involving the FA and leagues and therefore the League anticipates that it will be in a position to make a definitive statement early next week in respect to whether or not the season will be able to re-start as planned.

We will of course update supporters when there is any further news.

Our colleagues at the FSA have issued some further information, see
