Lee Henderson signs for his second spell for the Club

. Banbury United3 Aug 2023 - 16:56

Experienced central defender has already notched up 63 appearances for Banbury United.

Banbury United is pleased to announce the return of former experienced defender Lee Henderson ahead of the 2023/2024 season opener against Spennymoor Town.

Lee Henderson is a well-known figure among the Banbury faithful, having started his football journey in the Oxford United youth academy before moving to Didcot Town. His impressive performances caught the attention of then-National League North side Oxford City, with whom he spent five years and accumulated 95 league appearances at Step 2. In the summer of 2018, Lee made the move to Banbury United, making his debut in a 1-1 draw against Rushall Olympic at the start of the 2018/2019 season.

During his first spell at the club, Lee's contributions helped Banbury come within one point of a play-off position during the 2019/2020 season, featuring in 32 appearances before the season was curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He made one more appearance under the management of Andy Whing in the 2020/2021 season in the 2-2 draw against Royston Town at The Garden Walk Stadium.

Now, at 33 years old, the central defender has signed for his second spell at the Club, aiming to build on his previous 63 appearances and two goals for the Puritans.
