Match Off - Stratford Town - Waterlogged Pitch

. Banbury United20 Dec 2025 - 09:31

Banbury United welcome Stratford Town this Saturday as a local derby takes centre stage in a final home game of the year.

The Puritans return home following a narrow midweek defeat away at Barwell, but their recent form on home soil provides plenty for optimism. Banbury are unbeaten in their last four matches at the Spencer Stadium, powered by Egg, keeping three clean sheets in that run, and will be determined to make home advantage count once again.

Squad rotation has been a feature in recent fixtures, but the added edge of the derby is likely to see Banbury return to their strongest possible side as they look to return to winning ways.

The Bards -

The visitors arrive with confidence, coming into the contest on a four-game winning run, highlighted by a ruthless 6–1 victory over St Ives Town last weekend. Currently sitting eighth in the table, Stratford Town will be hoping their momentum can carry them to a fifth successive win.

Ex - Puritan Henry Landers, who was part of the title winning squad in the 21/22 season could feature for the away side. Dangerman Dan Lafferty has netted seven times so far this season as he looks to trouble Jack Harding in the Banbury goal.

Previous Meetings -

Banbury boast a strong record against their local rivals, with five wins in their last seven meetings. The most notable a 5-0 win on Boxing Day 2019. A commanding 3–0 away win in Warwickshire on the opening day of the season handed Langmead his first victory as the club’s new manager.
Stratford last tasted derby success in 2018 as the two sides come into the contest hoping to claim three points and local bragging rights before Christmas.
With both sides aiming to climb the table as the season moves into its second half, a closely contested encounter is expected, setting the stage for an entertaining Christmas cracker at the Spencer Stadium.
