Match Postponed v Harborough Town - Frozen Pitch

. Banbury United3 Jan - 10:40

Banbury United welcome high flying Harborough Town to the Spencer Stadium powered by Egg on Saturday, for their first game of the new year.

The Puritans will be hoping to kickstart 2026 with a victory as they welcome second-placed Harborough Town to North Oxfordshire. United come into the contest on the back of a hard-fought draw away at Stourbridge last Saturday and will be looking to secure their first win since the end of November.
Joel Anker’s acrobatic second-half strike put United ahead, before a late Glassboys header twenty minutes from time ensured the spoils were shared. The result leaves United sitting 14th in the table as they enter the new year looking to build momentum.

Encouragingly, United’s recent home form has been strong, with ten points taken from their last four matches at the Spencer Stadium, highlighting their success on home turf.

The Bees -

With just one loss in the league to date, promotion favourites Harborough come into the game in second place, with three games in hand over leaders Spalding United.

Defeated late on at Stourbridge in mid – December, the result meant it was just their first defeat on the road in over a year.

Mitch Austin’s men boast a strong defensive record, with only fourteen goals conceded so far this season, as they look to maintain their impressive away form on Saturday. At the other end of the pitch, goals have been shared about, with Riley O’Sullivan leading the charts for The Bees.

Harborough come into the game off the back of a 4-2 win over Kettering Town last Saturday.

Previous Meetings -

The two sides only met for the first time last campaign, with The Bees winning 4-1 at home. The return fixture saw late drama in a 2-2 draw. United had thought they had won it in the 89th minute courtesy of Yaw Ofosu, however Ben Stephens netted a stoppage time equaliser to ensure the visitors didn’t leave empty handed.
