Banbury United are on their travels on Saturday afternoon as they face Bury Town at Ram Meadow, with a 3pm kick-off in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central.
It promises to be an important afternoon for the Puritans, who begin a new chapter following the departure of manager Kelvin Langmead earlier this week. Assistant manager Craig McKay will take interim charge as United look to respond to recent results against one of the division's leading sides.
The Puritans
United head into Saturday's fixture following a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Worcester City on Tuesday evening, a result which proved to be Langmead's final game in charge.
The former Banbury player announced his resignation on Wednesday, bringing an end to his second season at the helm. In his departure statement, Langmead explained that he felt the players needed a change of voice and approach to help them move forward.
Assistant manager Craig McKay has been placed in interim charge until further notice and will now oversee the Puritans as they look to respond on the pitch.
Banbury currently sit 18th in the league table with 13 points from 14 matches, having recorded three wins and four draws so far this season.
There is little time to dwell on Tuesday's result, with a difficult away assignment awaiting the Puritans. McKay will be looking for a reaction from his players, with Saturday providing an opportunity to bring some renewed energy and organisation to the side.
Facing one of the division's promotion contenders will be a significant test, but United will travel to Suffolk determined to put recent disappointments behind them and produce a performance that can provide a platform for the weeks ahead.
The Blues
Bury Town welcome Banbury sitting second in the Southern League Premier Central, having collected 31 points from their opening 14 fixtures.
Managed by Cole Skuse, the Suffolk side have established themselves as one of the division's strongest teams and will have ambitions of challenging for promotion this season.
Bury have enjoyed an impressive campaign to date, recording ten victories from their opening 14 league matches. Their recent form has been mixed, however, with a 5-1 defeat away at Hitchin Town last weekend following a 2-2 draw at Real Bedford and a 2-0 home victory over Stourbridge.
Despite those recent setbacks, the Blues remain firmly in the promotion picture and will be keen to return to winning ways in front of their home supporters.
Bury have also proved capable of finding the net regularly this season. Banbury's defensive organisation will therefore be particularly important if they are to frustrate the hosts and take something away from Ram Meadow.
Previous Meetings
When the two clubs met last season, a late Ollie Hughes winner saw the hosts take all three points at Ram Meadow, yet in February earlier this year, Josh Flanagan netted just after half time as the Puritans secured three points at home.
