Banbury United turn their attention to the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Exmouth Town to the TUGO Community Stadium in the First Qualifying Round.

The Puritans will be looking to put their recent league results behind them and make home advantage count, with a place in the Second Qualifying Round at stake.

The Puritans

Kelvin Langmead's side will enter Saturday's tie looking for a response following a difficult spell in the league, with the FA Cup providing a welcome change of focus.

United have already shown plenty of encouraging signs during the opening weeks of the campaign, and Langmead will be hoping his side can rediscover the performances that saw them complete an unbeaten pre-season.

Banbury will be determined to progress and give themselves the chance of another cup run.

Langmead will also be aware that Saturday's tie represents an important opportunity for his squad to build confidence. A convincing performance and progression into the next round would provide a timely boost ahead of the continuing league campaign.

The Town

Exmouth Town make the long journey from Devon as the Step 4 visitors, with Kevin Hill's side arriving in North Oxfordshire with an FA Cup run already under their belt.

Known as The Town, Exmouth have made a positive start to their cup campaign, beginning with a 3-0 victory away at Bovey Tracey before overcoming Bridgwater United 3-1 in the Preliminary Round.

Ethan Slater was on target against Bridgwater, continuing his impressive start to the season.

Their league campaign has included a 1-1 draw away at Bideford and 4-1 win against rivals Tiverton Town.

Hill has been a key figure in Exmouth's rise through the non-league pyramid and remains at the helm alongside coach Andy Rawlings and assistant manager Russel Gee.

The Town secured promotion to Step 4 in 2022, marking an important moment in the club's recent history, and will now be hoping to cause a major upset against a Banbury side competing one level above them.

One player the Banbury defence will need to keep a close eye on is Ethan Slater.

Slater has already found the net during Exmouth's FA Cup campaign, scoring in the 3-1 victory over Bridgwater United. He also scored the club's first Southern

League goal of the season in the 1-1 draw at Bideford.

His early-season goalscoring form makes him one of the main attacking threats Banbury will have to deal with on Saturday.
