Banbury United head to the West Midlands full of confidence, with The Puritans enjoying an impressive run of form. Unbeaten in their last five league matches with four straight victories, the energy is high throughout the squad. Last time out saw late drama, as Josh Flanagan struck an 87th-minute winner to secure all three points.
With the most recent away victory coming at table-toppers Spalding United, Banbury will believe they can remain firmly in the play-off picture heading into the latter stages of the season.
Speaking to Puritans Radio on Saturday, the Banbury manager hinted at a bolstered squad for Saturday’s trip as Ofosu, Abimbola and Styche near a return.
The Yeltz -
The hosts sit just outside of the play off places. Saturday saw defeat away at fellow play off chasers Redditch United. Before that, just one defeat in their last 11 games has shown why Russel Penn’s side are going to prove another stern test for The Puritans.
Halesowen have the deadliest striker in the league in Jason Cowley. The front man has 20 goals to his name so far this season.
There will be some familiar faces in the home camp, with former Puritans in Jak Hickman, Josh Smile and AJ George all currently at The Grove.
Previous Meetings -
In the last three meetings, Halesowen have come out victorious on each occasion, including the 3-0 at Banbury back in October.
Before then, the sides met in the 2018/2019 season where Banbury won at home before a 2-0 loss was played out at The Grove.
It’s been 16 years since Banbury last won at Halesowen, but they’ll head into Saturday’s game hoping to finally turn the tide given the momentum they have built up recently.
