With just four points separating the clubs in the Southern League Premier Central table, Craig McKay's Puritans will be determined to make home advantage count and claim a valuable three points.
Reminder this fixture is segregated.
The Puritans
It has been a challenging period for the Puritans, who will be looking to build on an encouraging point away at title challengers Bury Town last weekend. Banbury showed plenty of character to come from behind and secure a 2-2 draw, with recent arrival Tolu Ikuyinminu getting himself on the scoresheet.
The result was particularly important given the injury problems that have left the squad stretched in recent weeks. It also offered some encouragement following a difficult run of results, with just three league victories recorded in their opening 15 matches.
Saturday will be another important occasion for interim manager Craig McKay, who took charge following Kelvin Langmead's departure. Having previously worked as Langmead's assistant, McKay will be hoping to use the derby as a platform for another positive result.
Banbury United can provide the following update on the squad:
Jacob Scott sustained an ankle fracture during our recent fixture against Peterborough Sports and has returned to his parent club to begin his treatment and rehabilitation. We wish Jacob a full and speedy recovery.
Otis Castle will continue his development with Kidlington FC, where he was previously dual registered.
Josh Smile and Yaw Ofosu have returned to first team training as they continue their recovery from their respective injuries, a welcome boost for the squad.
We thank all of those leaving the football club and wish them the very best in their future endeavours.
The Brakes
The visitors arrive in Oxfordshire under the management of Scott Easterlow, who will be hoping his side can put an inconsistent spell behind them and return to winning ways.
It has been a difficult October for the Brakes, who suffered five defeats during the month. Their most recent setback came last weekend against Peterborough Sports, where a spirited second-half comeback ultimately proved insufficient in a 4-2 defeat.
Tonge will certainly be one for Banbury to keep an eye on, while striker Kyle Finn has also contributed five league goals this season. There will also be a familiar face in The Brakes camp as former Puritan Josh Flanagan returns to the TUGO Community Stadium.
Previous Meetings
Saturday's encounter marks the return of a fixture that has been absent from the league calendar since the 2022/23 season.
Before then, the last meetings between the two were in the National League North where Banbury lost 1-0 away in Warwickshire before being held to a 2-2 draw at home.
