Banbury United return to the Spencer Stadium on Tuesday night as the Puritans continue their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign, with an MK Dons XI providing the opposition in the penultimate test of pre-season.

Kelvin Langmead’s side come into the fixture on the back of a 2-1 victory away at AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Friday night, with Ferguson and Trialist both finding the net for United.

The result extended the Puritans’ unbeaten start to pre-season, with the squad having taken full advantage of the valuable minutes available throughout the summer so far.

With the opening league fixture now edging ever closer, Tuesday night will provide another important opportunity for Langmead’s men to build fitness, develop understanding and continue fine-tuning preparations ahead of the new campaign.

New signing Ben Nash once again impressed on Friday night after joining the Puritans following a successful trial period, and will be hoping to continue his positive start to life at the club.

The Dons -

Tuesday night will present another new challenge for United, with an MK Dons XI expected to travel to the Spencer Stadium.

The visitors are likely to field a youthful side, providing valuable experience for some of the club’s younger players as they continue their development within the MK Dons setup.

The MK Dons academy has a strong reputation for producing young talent, with players progressing through the club’s academy structure before making the step into senior football. A fixture against a young Dons side should therefore provide a different test for the Puritans, with pace, energy and technical ability expected to be on show.

For United, it will be another chance to test themselves against different opposition and continue building momentum ahead of the start of the league campaign.

With just one pre-season fixture remaining after Tuesday night, the countdown to the new season is well and truly underway.
