Match Preview - Needham Market

. Banbury United10 Dec 2025 - 16:04

The Puritans host the Marketmen this Saturday at the Spencer Stadium powered by Egg.

Banbury United return to the Spencer Stadium looking to continue their strong home form, having won their last three matches on home soil. The Puritans have scored eight goals across those victories, including a comfortable win last time out at the Spencer against bottom-placed Stamford, where Flanagan and Bloom found the net.

However, Banbury come into this fixture aiming to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat away at Redditch. There is positive news on the squad front: captain Yaw Ofosu looks set to overcome his recent injury after making the bench on Saturday, while Alex Prosser has now returned to the starting lineup. Unfortunately, striker Reece Styche remains sidelined.

THE MARKETMEN -

The visitors, Needham Market, sit 4th in the league, but they too arrive off the back of a disappointing result, having fallen to a 3–0 home defeat against Quorn. Their away form mirrors Banbury’s just three wins on the road this season, highlighting the importance of momentum and confidence coming into this one.

The Marketmen possess key threats Banbury will need to manage. Joe Neal, their leading scorer with seven goals, remains the focal point up front, while midfielder Luke Ingram, on six goals, continues to be a driving force in the middle of the park.

With both teams looking to respond after weekend defeats but Banbury buoyed by three successive home wins, this clash at the Spencer Stadium has all the ingredients for a tight and competitive encounter.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS -

The last time Banbury United faced Needham Market was back in 2022, away from home, the Puritans ran out 4-1 winners.

Morgan Roberts was the standout performer, scoring twice, while James Golding and Jack Stevens also added their names to the scoresheet to complete a superb victory on the road.
