Match Preview - Potters Bar Town

. Banbury United

We welcome Potters Bar Town to the Spencer Stadium for a 13:00 kick-off.

After an encouraging start to pre-season, the Puritans will be aiming to make it three victories from three under Kelvin Langmead when they take on the Hertfordshire outfit in what promises to be another valuable test ahead of the new season.

The Puritans

Banbury come into today’s fixture full of confidence after recording back-to-back victories in their opening two pre-season matches.

Most recently, Langmead's side produced another impressive display to defeat Easington Sports in the Ron Thomas Memorial Trophy on Tuesday evening. The standout moment came courtesy of Joel Anker, whose spectacular bicycle kick lit up the Spencer Stadium and has already been labelled by many supporters as an early goal of the season contender.
The victory followed Saturday's entertaining 3-2 success away at Coventry United, meaning the Puritans have enjoyed a perfect start to their pre-season programme with two wins from two.

With fitness levels continuing to improve and new combinations beginning to flourish, this anfternoon encounter offers another important opportunity for Langmead's men to continue building momentum before the competitive campaign gets underway in three weeks time.

The Scholars

Potters Bar Town make the trip to Oxfordshire having played twice so far this summer under manager Jimmy Martin, recording one win and one defeat during their opening pre-season fixtures.

Despite suffering relegation from the Isthmian League Premier Division last season following a lengthy stay at Step 3, the Scholars have moved quickly to reshape their squad and arrive with several exciting new additions.

Among the headline signings is prolific striker Albie Hall, who claimed the Southern League Division One Central Golden Boot last season after an outstanding goalscoring campaign. Hall adds proven firepower to the Potters Bar attack and will undoubtedly be one of the visitors' biggest threats.

The club have also strengthened their management team with the appointment of Graeme Tomlinson as assistant manager. He is joined by his son, Connor Tomlinson, who has also signed for the club and provides another attacking option heading into the new season.

Further additions include Tami Ogunnowo and Samuel Mayuma, with Martin assembling a squad capable of challenging near the top end of Step 4 as they look to bounce back at the first attempt.
