Puritans Aim to Continue Unbeaten Start Against The Pirates

Banbury United return to the TUGO Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Real Bedford in the Southern League Premier Central, with both sides looking to maintain their unbeaten starts to the new campaign.

The Puritans have taken four points from their opening two league fixtures, following up a goalless draw away at Bishop’s Stortford on the opening day with a 2-1 victory over Racing Club Warwick on Tuesday night.

Kelvin Langmead’s side produced plenty of attacking threat against The Racers and could arguably have added to their tally, with the performance providing plenty of encouragement ahead of Saturday’s meeting.

Levi Steele has already made an impressive start to life in Banbury colours, with the summer signing once again catching the eye and looking to be a fantastic addition to Langmead’s squad.

The Puritans will now be hoping to take the attacking momentum from Tuesday into another home fixture as they face one of the early pace-setters in the division.

The Pirates -

Real Bedford have enjoyed a perfect start to their campaign, winning both of their opening two league fixtures.

The Pirates began with a 4-2 victory over Leamington at the Ledger Stadium before following that up with an impressive 2-0 away victory against Peterborough Sports on Tuesday night.

Josh Allen was the difference at Peterborough, scoring both goals to secure all three points for Rob Sinclair’s side.

Sinclair has been at the helm since 2022 and has overseen the club’s progression up the football pyramid, with Real Bedford now looking to establish themselves as a force in the Southern League Premier Central.

The Pirates currently sit at the top of the early league table with six points from their opening two matches.

Previous Meetings -

Banbury United will be looking to put last season’s meetings with Real Bedford right when the two sides meet again at the TUGO Community Stadium.

The Pirates completed the league double over the Puritans in the Southern League Premier Central last season, winning 4-1 at the Spencer Stadium in September before recording a 3-1 victory at the Ledger Stadium in November.

Banbury will be hoping for a different outcome this time around as they look to extend their unbeaten start and claim another three points on home soil.
