Match Preview - Redditch United

. Banbury United17 Apr - 14:34

Banbury United return to The Spencer Stadium on Saturday for their final home game of the season.

Kelvin Langmead’s side will be eager to respond after a disappointing 4-0 defeat away at Stamford AFC on Tuesday night. Speaking to Puritans Radio, Langmead did not hide his frustration, and he will be demanding a much-improved performance as his team looks to end their home campaign on a positive note.

The defeat leaves Banbury sitting 12th in the table, with a maximum possible total of 62 points still achievable. However, recent form has been a concern — the Puritans have managed just one win in their last nine matches, scoring only five goals during that run. Despite this, their home record offers encouragement, with just one defeat in their last 13 games at The Spencer Stadium.

The Reds
Standing in their way are a Redditch United side still chasing a play-off place. Managed by Mike Fowler, The Reds come into this fixture following a dramatic 1-1 draw against Kettering Town on Tuesday night. Redditch thought they had secured all three points with a 93rd-minute winner, only to be denied by a late equaliser in the 97th minute.

That result leaves them seventh in the table, just two points outside the play-off spots with two games remaining. Prior to that, Redditch had collected nine points from five matches, keeping their top-five ambitions alive. However, a run of three games without a win has slowed their momentum in recent weeks.

Their away form will also need improvement, with just one victory in their last five trips on the road. If they are to maintain their push for the play-offs heading into the final week, a strong result on Saturday is essential.

One to watch for the visitors is Alex Cameron, who leads the line with 12 goals this season and remains a key attacking threat.

Previous Meetings
Earlier in the season, United lost 2-0 away in Worcestershire as a Fabian Reynolds brace secured three points for the home side.

Before that, the two sides have enjoyed many encounters with each other. However, since 2020 there have been seven meetings, with three wins each and a 0-0 draw coming in 2024. Redditch last tasted success in North Oxfordshire in January 2022.

Information
Please note - this weekend’s fixture is segregated.
Following the game, the end-of-season awards will take place in the Spencer clubhouse from 6pm.
