After last weekend’s local derby against Stratford Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Spencer Stadium, powered by Egg, United will arrive refreshed and eager to round off the year on a high as they hit the road this weekend.
With what will be a near two-week break since Banbury’s loss at Barwell, the unexpected spell without a fixture will have afforded the squad a welcome chance to recharge after a demanding November and December.
The Glassboys -
Last week saw the hosts appoint Scott Adey- Linforth as their Head Coach, returning to the club having held previous coaching roles at The War Memorial Athletic Ground between 2013 and 2024.
The Glassboys went on a fourteen game winless run between September and December, losing nine of those and sat firmly in the bottom four, prompting Adey – Linforth’s re-introduction. In the two games he’s been in the dugout for, immediate impact saw him hand Harborough Town their first defeat of the campaign, before following up with a point on the road at Bury Town last Saturday.
Dominic Lewis, who scored the winner against Harborough, is pivotal to the hosts midfield, whilst Jenson Sumnall leads the scoring charts with seven goals so far this season.
Previous Meetings -
In the reverse fixture back in August, James Alabi netted a 94th minute winner, his first in a Puritan’s shirt, as the home side won 3-2.
Stourbridge last beat Banbury in 2019, with both meetings last season ending in a stalemate.
United will be keen to halt their recent struggles on the road, having lost their last three away from home, as Langmead’s men look to round off the year with a valuable three points.
