Banbury United return to the TUGO Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Stourbridge for a 3pm kick-off in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central.

Kelvin Langmead's side will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats as they prepare for a busy Bank Holiday weekend.

The Puritans

United head into Saturday's fixture on the back of a 3-2 defeat away at Rushall Olympic last weekend.
The Puritans took the lead at Dales Lane, but three goals from the hosts saw the game turn on its head. Joey Evans pulled one back with 20 minutes remaining, but Banbury were unable to find an equaliser as they suffered their second successive defeat.

Speaking after the match, Langmead admitted he was pleased with his side's dominance during the first half, but was frustrated by some costly mistakes after the break. The Puritans also had opportunities which they were unable to convert, ultimately proving decisive as Rushall claimed all three points.

There was nevertheless a positive to take from the afternoon, with Josh Cavallo making an encouraging return after missing much of pre-season. His return will provide another option for Langmead as the squad continues to settle into the new campaign.
Looking ahead to Saturday, United will be hoping to welcome back Prosser, although having recently received treatment, it may still be some time before he is able to return. Other than that, there are no new injury concerns for Langmead.

With the competitiveness of the league already being made clear during these early weeks, the Banbury boss will be looking for a reaction from his side and a return to winning ways before the quick turnaround for Monday's Bank Holiday fixture.

The Glassboys

Stourbridge arrive sitting eighth in the early Southern League Premier Central table after an unbeaten start to the campaign.

Managed by Scott Adey-Linfort, the Glassboys played out a 2-2 draw at home to Leiston last Saturday, following victories over Stamford AFC and Peterborough Sports.

Their impressive start will give Stourbridge plenty of confidence heading into Saturday's encounter, with the visitors yet to taste defeat this season.

The Glassboys have also added to their squad with the recent loan signing of Eddie Lake from Port Vale. The youngster made his EFL debut towards the end of last season and will provide another attacking threat for Stourbridge, giving the Banbury defence plenty to think about.

United, meanwhile, will be looking to record their second clean sheet of the campaign and will need to remain disciplined against a Stourbridge side that has shown plenty of attacking quality in the opening weeks.

Previous Meetings

The two clubs have enjoyed plenty of competitive encounters over the years, with the last 14 meetings producing three Banbury victories, five wins for Stourbridge and six draws.

Last season produced a thrilling encounter in North Oxfordshire, with the Puritans snatching a dramatic 3-2 victory in the final minute when the Glassboys travelled to the Spencer Stadium.

The return fixture in the West Midlands ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning Banbury have now gone unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Saturday's opponents.
