Match Preview: Banbury United v Oxford City

. Banbury United11 Jul - 14:35

Entry just £5. FREE for 2025/26 Season Ticket Holders and U18's.

The Puritans kick off pre-season at home to neighbours Oxford City, on Saturday 12th July (KO 15:00).

Football is finally back for the 2025/26 season as we welcome Oxford City to The Spencer Stadium, powered by egg, for the first fixture of pre-season. Supporters will be excited to see Kelvin Langmead's side take to the pitch for the first time - a squad made up of returning players, new signings and trialists.

It's "Footy for a Fiver" for this fixture with all tickets costing just £5! Additionally, 25/26 Season Ticket Holders and U18s get FREE entry, not just for this fixture but for all of our home pre-season friendlies in July and August!

We last hosted Oxford City in 2023, during pre season for the 23/24 season - Mark Jones' new side at the time we're beaten 3-2 by The Hoops in a closely contested affair. Prior to that, Oxford City defeated The Puritans 4-3 in the final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup in 2019 - our goalscorers being Ricky Johnson, Amer Awadh and Greg Kaziboni.

A special thank you to Didcot Town FC, whose generous offer of a replacement water tank has enabled our volunteer grounds team to continue work on the pitch and get the game on. We’re hopeful with more time and water the condition will further improve, combined with the new irrigation equipment purchased thanks to the generous donations through the JustGiving page.

From our supporters and volunteers, to those across the football community, the Club would like to say a huge thank you - your support this pre-season has been hugely appreciated by all at BUFC.

Due to ongoing roadworks, vehicular access to the ground via Station Approach (the entry road to Banbury train station) is currently unavailable. Supporters travelling by car should instead use the newly opened Tramway Road (opposite the Morrisons supermarket). Both routes remain accessible on foot.

Please note parking at the ground is limited. Supporters are advised to use the multi-story Banbury train station car park on Merton Street (East side, across the tracks), where parking charges apply.
