The Puritans’ Response

After a demanding FA Cup run that saw the Puritans battle valiantly over two legs against St Albans City, fatigue seemed to take its toll in Saturday’s 3–0 defeat to Halesowen Town. The Yeltz capitalised on tired legs, but Banbury will be eager to show their true quality in front of the home crowd under the lights.

Full-back Keegan Bloom reflected on the weekend’s performance, saying:

“Not a true reflection in the slightest of what we can do – really disappointing. Big performance needed Tuesday.”

That’s exactly what Banbury will be aiming to deliver, a statement response under the Spencer Stadium lights.

Poppies’ Problems

Visitors Kettering Town arrive in Oxfordshire facing struggles of their own. The club recently parted ways with former Banbury boss Simon Hollyhead after a run of poor results. A 3–0 defeat on Saturday extended their losing streak to three matches in all competitions, without scoring a single goal and conceding seven.

The Poppies’ attacking woes have deepened further with forward Jamar Loza leaving the club due to a jail sentence, while Nile Ranger has joined Wellingborough Town and Leon Lobjoit has re-signed for Bedford Town. Whoever takes charge next will have work to do to reignite Kettering’s firepower. Tuesday night will also see the return of Connor Stanley and George Forsyth at the Spencer Stadium after departing the club to follow Ex-manager Hollyhead.

Both sides come into this fixture desperate for points and a lift in form. For Banbury, it’s about proving that Saturday’s defeat was only a blip. For Kettering, it’s about halting a worrying slide and finding stability amid off-field uncertainty. Expect a competitive, high-energy contest as both teams look to turn the tide.
