Banbury United’s struggles in front of goal continued as they suffered a narrow defeat away to Leiston, marking the fifth time in six matches that they have failed to score.
United made a positive start and created an early opportunity in the second minute, when Chris Wreh sent an overhead effort just over the crossbar. However, Leiston took the lead in the 11th minute following a defensive lapse, which left goalkeeper Jack Harding exposed and allowed Adam Mills to finish into an unguarded net.
Banbury again deployed a three-man defence alongside a two-man attack in an effort to address recent results, but clear-cut chances remained limited for both sides throughout the first half. Despite Leiston fielding third-choice goalkeeper Jake Jessup, he was rarely tested as the visitors struggled to create meaningful efforts on goal.
At half-time, Banbury made tactical adjustments, switching to a back four and introducing George Ball in attack. However, the changes did not significantly alter the pattern of the game, with Leiston maintaining control and limiting United’s attacking threat.
The home side managed the second half effectively and saw out the remainder of the match with few difficulties, securing all three points.
