Banbury United produced an impressive away performance to secure all three points against Needham Market, maintaining their unbeaten record against the Suffolk side.
The early stages were evenly contested, but Banbury showed strong organisation and intent throughout. Their pressure was rewarded in the 30th minute when Alex Worley’s corner from the right was met by Chris Wreh, who powered a header home from close range to give the visitors the lead.
Needham were handed a chance to respond just before half-time when a penalty was awarded following a challenge in the area. However, Jack Harding produced an excellent save, diving low to his right to deny Reg Thompson-Lambe and preserve Banbury’s advantage going into the break.
The hosts started the second half brightly, with James Bradbrook called into action to deny Yaw Ofosu early on. As the game progressed, Needham applied increasing pressure, but Banbury’s defence remained resolute.
Harding was again called upon in the 72nd minute, making a fine reaction save to turn a goal-bound header behind. The home side continued to push forward, creating further opportunities, but were unable to find a breakthrough.
Banbury looked dangerous on the counter and came close through George Ball before sealing the victory late on. Connor Ferguson broke clear and showed composure to curl his finish beyond the goalkeeper, securing the win for the visitors.
A disciplined defensive display, combined with clinical moments at either end of the pitch, ensured Banbury returned home with a well-earned victory.
