Match Report - Quorn

. Banbury United18 Mar - 09:26

Banbury United saw their nine unbeaten league run come to an end as they were beaten by a well-organised Quorn side.

United made a bright start and nearly took the lead in the 8th minute when Alex Prosser’s corner from the left drifted over everyone and struck the crossbar, with the hosts scrambling to clear.

Quorn responded quickly and went ahead just two minutes later. A ball into the penalty area caused a moment of hesitation in the Banbury defence, allowing Cain Noble to loop a header over Jack Harding and into the net.

Banbury reacted well to going behind and pushed forward in search of an equaliser. Connor Ferguson came closest with a powerful effort from the right, but goalkeeper Adam Harrison produced an excellent save to deny him. Despite United enjoying good spells of possession, Quorn remained compact defensively and limited further opportunities before the break.

The visitors started the second half positively, with Keegan Bloom sending a curling effort just over the crossbar early on. However, Quorn extended their lead in the 48th minute when Harding could only parry a strong shot from Silvio Belio, and Jack Duffy was on hand to convert the rebound from close range.

Banbury continued to work hard and looked to get back into the game, but Quorn managed the contest effectively and limited clear chances. The surface made for a quick and sometimes unpredictable game, which the home side adapted to well.

Despite their efforts, United were unable to find a way back, and the hosts saw the game out to secure the points and bring Banbury’s unbeaten run to a close.
