Match Report - Stamford AFC

. Banbury United17 Apr - 16:25

Banbury United made the midweek trip to Lincolnshire but were unable to find their rhythm in a difficult evening.

The opening stages were relatively quiet, with few clear opportunities for either side. Stamford’s best early chance came in the 13th minute through Staford, though his effort drifted wide. Banbury looked to build through wide areas, with Max Fuller showing some promising moments on the right, although much of his work came in deeper positions as the visitors found it challenging to establish sustained attacking pressure.

With Joel Anker unavailable and Connor Ferguson operating more centrally, Banbury struggled to create clear chances in the final third. As the game progressed, Stamford grew in confidence and began to take control.

The hosts took the lead shortly before half-time, with captain Joe Burgess scoring in the 43rd minute. Stamford extended their advantage in the 57th minute through Kai Sanchez-Tonge, putting them firmly in control of the contest.

Leon Lobjoit added a third in the 66th minute before converting from the penalty spot ten minutes later to complete the scoring.

Banbury will look to regroup and respond positively in their remaining fixtures as the season draws to a close.
