Banbury United signed off their pre-season with a well-earned 2-0 win over Southern League Premier South side Gloucester City AFC.
Captain Yaw Ofosu opened the scoring just before the break, powering home a header from a corner on 43 minutes to give The Puritans a deserved half-time lead.
The advantage was doubled midway through the second half when a Trialist A produced a composed finish (75’), curling a shot into the top corner to seal the result.
Gloucester thought they had pulled one back just two minutes later (77’), but their effort was ruled out for a foul on keeper Jack Harding, who remained largely untroubled throughout.
It was a sharp, professional display from Banbury, rounding off a promising pre-season and offering encouraging signs ahead of the competitive campaign.
Our thanks to Gloucester for making the trip and we wish them well for the upcoming season.
Next up, The Puritans start their Southern League Premier Central campaign with an away trip to Stratford Town on August 9th (KO 15:00).
