. Banbury United27 Jul 2025 - 12:30

Following an impressive rise through Banbury United youth ranks.

Banbury United is proud to announce that Max Fuller, aged 16, has signed First Team papers with the Club, capping off an inspiring progression through the Club’s youth pathway.

Max’s football journey began in Tanzania, where informal garden matches with local Masai communities first sparked his passion for the game. After relocating to the UK at the age of 10, he immersed himself in grassroots football, representing Deddington and Kineton in the Midland Junior Premier League (MJPL), laying the early foundation for his development.

Over the past four years, Max has steadily advanced through Banbury United’s youth system, most recently featuring in the U18 Development Squad, competing in the MJPL. His efforts were rewarded with a First Team debut on 12th November 2024, in a 2-0 Oxfordshire Senior Cup victory against Henley Town, a significant step in his senior journey. He also gained further experience with Leamington FC’s U18 and U19 sides in the Floodlit League, strengthening his tactical adaptability.

A versatile and attack-minded full-back, Max is known for his tenacity, intelligent positioning, and ability to convert defensive play into quick attacking opportunities.

Carl Ashford, Football Secretary and Development Team Manager, praised Max’s progress: “I’m delighted that Max has earned the opportunity to sign First Team papers. I’ve had the privilege of working with him over the last couple of seasons. Max is an exciting player - tenacious in the tackle, composed on the ball, with quick feet and superb technique.

What truly sets Max apart is his attitude and hunger to learn. He’s still just 16, and there’s much more to come. As a Development Team coach, it’s a proud moment to see players like Max step up - it’s precisely why Ben and I invest so much time into helping these young players grow. The pathway from U18s to the First Team is vital for the future of the Club, and we’re thrilled to see it already delivering results.”

Paul Fuller, Max’s father, added: “Watching Max grow from kicking a ball around with the Masai in Tanzania to earning his place at Banbury United has been an incredible journey. His dedication and love for the game have defined every step.”

Max shared his excitement: “Signing for Banbury means the world to me. I’ve worked hard, learned a lot, and had amazing support. This is only the beginning - I’m committed to giving everything for the Club and the fans.”

Everyone at The Puritans congratulates Max and looks forward to seeing him continue to flourish in the First Team. His journey stands as a testament to the strength of the Club’s youth development programme.
