Last season, one of the new names to join the Banbury United sponsor fold was Discount Builders Merchants. You may have noticed their bright yellow signs off Southam Road where they are conveniently nestled between B&Q and Wickes.

Discount Builders supplies building materials, tools, bricks and timber to both consumers and the trade. “A big portion of our customers are working on DIY and landscaping projects and we are known, as the name suggests, for our good prices and product promotions,” says Banbury Branch Manager, Sid Balbir.

Indeed, alongside building, sheet and insulation materials, there is an impressive range of fencing, wood and composite decking, decorative aggregates and paving options, ideal for home improvement projects.

The Banbury Branch on Pipe Lane has been open for six years, although Discount Builders has another four branches regionally and has been going for 25 years. Nine people are employed in Banbury and they form a close-knit highly motivated team.

The phone is picked up within three rings and we offer deliveries within 24 hours of the customer’s order. And I’m a big believer in eye contact!
