Meet the Sponsor: Norbar

. Banbury United24 Oct - 14:33

A great place to work, and a great sponsor!

Norbar is a major employer in Banbury that manufactures torque tightening and measuring equipment for global customers from its state-of-the-art site on Wildmere Estate.

Norbar’s tools help customers in industrial and assembly operations, such as automotive, aerospace, rail and construction; as well as energy & utilities; specialist engineering and testing; and transport & logistics.

Like Banbury United, Norbar has a rich history. Incorporated in 1943, the "North Bar Tool Company" became the first company in Britain to commercially manufacture torque wrenches. The initial demand was driven by the need for the gasket-less cylinder head of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine to be accurately tightened. Founder Bill Brodey and his partner Ernest Thornitt obtained a licence from Britain's wartime Government to begin manufacture of torque wrenches and Norbar was born.

All Norbar torque tools are designed and produced in Banbury, supported by other facilities in Australia, the United States, China, and India that focus on calibration and distribution.

Marketing manager, Kane Smith, has worked at Norbar for 11 years and continues to work closely with Banbury United. “We want to get across to the community that Norbar is a great place to work. We have lots of fans in our workforce. At the core of our agreement with Banbury United is a supply of season tickets that can be rotated among our staff. People sign up to a fixture list in reception and make a donation to charity in return for use of the season ticket.”

A regular user of one of the season tickets and a familiar face at the ground is Darren Hartwell of Norbar’s Sales Department. Darren is pictured with 9-year-old son Isaac in our main picture.

Would you like to add a season ticket package to your Employee Benefits Package and/or as part of an employee fundraising initiative at your workplace? Please contact Claire Dumbreck via clairedumbreck@banburyunitedfc.co.uk to make an enquiry.
