New era for major Club sponsor

New era for major Club sponsor

. Banbury United22 Jun 2023 - 10:45

John Nicholls remains a Banbury-based family business and Club sponsor despite recent sale of business division.

It was announced earlier this week that longstanding sponsor, John Nicholls, has sold its Building & Timber Division. The management team is keen to assure the local community that it will retain its Plumbing & Heating branches in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, as well as its nine J&Bs Plumbing & Heating branches on the south coast. Importantly for the Club, it will continue its sponsorship of Banbury United.

Andrew Nicholls said, “The decision to sell the Building & Timber division has been an incredibly difficult one to make, but one that allows Phillip Nicholls to retire from the business. Whilst I will be sad to see the Building & Timber branches sold, I am excited to be retaining the remaining John Nicholls Plumbing and Heating branches in Banbury, Kidlington, Buckingham, Towcester, Shipston-On-Stour and Witney, including the attached showrooms.

“To guarantee longevity, a Management Buyout (MBO) has been formed, led by me, with Adam England, Sam Hall, Mark Walton and David Simms ensuring the continuity of the business and the Nicholls family name for the future.

“I am pleased that Nicholls will continue to be an independently-owned Banbury-based business, allowing us to continue working with and serving our loyal customers and local communities as it has since my father first started the business in 1965. It also gives me great pleasure to say that we will continue with our sponsorship of Banbury United for the 2023-24 season,” concluded Andrew Nicholls.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual and we look forward to seeing you in our Plumbing and Heating Branches and Showrooms as always.”

Banbury United Chairman, Ronnie Johnson, said, ‘We are delighted to hear the news coming from Nicholls, who have been a longstanding and loyal sponsor of the club for many years. It is great to hear that the Nicholls business will continue to be part of the Banbury community for many years to come.”
