United would take the lead in the 12th minute when a cross from the edge of the penalty area down the right by Darren Pond saw Tom Bradbury head the ball home at the far post from close range, in the process colliding with the woodwork and injuring himself in the process. Tom had to go off shortly afterwards with Ricky Johnson going back into defence and Conor McDonagh coming on.

In the 29th minute Sam Humphreys shot inches over the bar from 10 yards but just sixty seconds later it was 2-0 when Leam Howards latched on to a through ball and from the edge of the penalty area fired across the goalkeeper into the far top corner of the net.

In the 38th minute a good surging run from George Nash saw him feed the ball out to Conor McDonagh down the left who passed into the centre and Howards knocked the ball home at the far post.

Just before half time United suffered another injury when Nuno Felix had to leave the field with Tom Winters coming on.

Banbury totally dominated the early stages of the second half and went close in the 54th minute when a Winters shot from 20 yards thundered against the crossbar.

However, in the 63rd minute a corner from the left taken by Winters was headed home in the centre by Johnson from eight yards to make it 4-0.

It was 5-0 in the 71st minute when a Winters cross in from the left fell to Luke Carnell who shot low into the back of the net from 15 yards.

Five minutes later and a corner from the right taken by Winters saw Carnell head goalwards at the far post with Howards then making sure heading the ball into the net from under the crossbar.

Eight minutes from time and a low cross in from the right just inside the Nomads penalty area by McDonagh was met by Howards at the far post for his fourth goal of the game and United’s seventh.

A minute later and McDonagh was again the provider crossing the ball in from the right with Howards neatly hooking the ball home from eight yards.

The young United striker was not though finished for the evening as with just two minutes to go McDonagh crossed low into the centre from the right with Howards knocking the ball home in the centre from close range for his sixth goal of the game and make the final score 9-0.
