Banbury United is pleased to announce the arrival of 25-year-old energetic midfielder, Alex Prosser from Stourbridge FC.
Alex began his career at Aston Villa, progressing through the Under 18s and then going on to feature regularly for the U23s in Premier League Division 2 action. After 58 appearances across the two age groups and a loan spell with Brackley Town, Prosser was released in May 2019.
Alex then signed for Kidderminster Harriers ahead of the 2019/20 season. He spent two years with the Worcestershire outfit, albeit those campaigns were hit by the Covid pandemic. Despite this, he featured in 43 games scoring three goals.
After leaving Kidderminster, the midfielder stayed in the National League North with another spell with Brackley Town before a loan spell with Leamington was made permanent.
After limited game time with Leamington and a successful loan spell with Stourbridge, Alex Prosser signed permanently for the Glassboys in July 2023.
Prosser has already made an impact this season for Stourbridge at Step 3, featuring in eight out of their nine league games and helping them to win in five of those outings.
Upon signing Alex Prosser expressed his delight in signing for Banbury United: “I’m really looking forward to being a part of this new look side and to continue their good start to the season in what looks to be an exciting new chapter at the Club.”
Banbury United FC First Team Manager, Simon Hollyhead, said, “We are very happy to welcome Alex to the Club. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the process of getting him onboard this week has gone, he’ll be into team training next week.
“I would like to personally thank the trustees of The Spencer Villa Fund, and to all the fans who pay whatever they can into the fund, for this critical addition to our squad. I am quite sure you will like what you see.”
