Updated with funeral details

It’s our sad duty to report the death of Richard Cox who passed away on Friday after a long illness at the age of 74.

Richard was a long term supporter of the club and regularly attended games home and away from the age of 8 until his illness prevented it. In latter years he was usually accompanied by his brother Bruce and our football secretary Barry Worsley.

As well as being a supporter Richard was previously a committee member and a director of the club from 1999 until the club moved to supporter’s ownership in 2015.

Richard was a boat builder by trade working out of Napton Marina. He leaves his wife Chris, daughter Nicola and two grandchildren as well as two stepsons and five step grandchildren. Everyone at the sends them our condolences.

Although unable to attend games recently Richard continued to follow the club’s progress with updates from Barry and of course was delighted with our recent success.

We will hold a minute’s silence in memory Richard at our next home against Thame United in the League Cup on Tuesday 2 November.

Richard’s funeral will be held at Banbury Crematorium on Tuesday 9 November at 12 noon, afterwards at the clubhouse. Club ties scarves and shirts welcome.
