Our Community Coach is leaving

The club can confirm that our Community Coach Ryan Jones is leaving his role to take up a new position.

Ryan has done a brilliant job since joining us in August 2019. He has transformed our position within the local community working on a myriad of projects with different stakeholders.

This has included coaching on our successful Academy course, run in conjunction with Active Learning; delivering multiple football based community projects for Cherwell District Council including the award winning Walking Football initiative; The FA Wildcats scheme to give an introduction to football for girls, and regular coaching at the Frank Wise School. He has also run highly successful after school clubs, holiday football camps and the Mini Reds Sunday morning club at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.

Commenting on the news and his time with us Ryan said “ It has been great to be Banbury’s Community Coach over the last three and a half years. The engagement we have had with the local community has been fantastic made even better by the massive success that has happened on the pitch. Watching both the first team and the community section grow so quickly was amazing. I feel we have made great impact locally and that it’s a great platform for the club to continue that work. I’m very proud of what I have done here, from getting retweeted by Marcus Rashford for our holiday camps to work with the amazing people at Frank Wise. I wish the club every success in the future, would like to thank everyone at the club who has made my time here so memorable. I will still remain a massive supporter of the team and hope to still follow both home and away.

Lisa Dixon Community Director said “Everyone at BUFC would like to thank Ryan for his hard work and dedication. He has raised the profile of Banbury United in the community and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of working with him. On behalf of the Board, and we know everyone at the club, we would like to wish Ryan every success in his new role which is a great career progression for him.”

Our community work is sponsored by Castle Cars and also supported by our Community Lottery and the club, of course, wish to build on the great work Ryan has done. We have put plans in place to cover Ryan’s work in the short term and we will be recruiting for a new full time coach early in the New Year, look out for this or email info@banburyunitedfc.co.uk if you want to register to receive details once available.

Thank you Ryan, you leave knowing that you can be proud of enriching the lives of many people, through the power of sport, in the local community.
