On Saturday United entertain St Ives Town in a Southern League Premier Central Division game 3.00pm kick-off

This will be St Ives Town’s third visit to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium, United having won both the previous visits of the Cambridgeshire side the past two seasons. All three games between the sides at St Ives have finished in draws, including this season in November when United came back from 2-0 down with goals from Giorgio Rasulo and Ricky Johnson to share the spoils. The visitors will thus be searching for their first ever win over the Puritans at their sixth attempt.

St Ives Town currently occupy 12th place in the table, one place and one point above United. They, like Banbury though, are not on a run of good results, having failed to win any of their last six league games, albeit four have been drawn. Losing by the odd goal in three at home to league leaders Kettering Town last Saturday was though certainly far from a poor performance.

This will be United’s first league home game since beating Coalville Town five weeks ago. Since then a commendable draw at AFC Rushden & Diamonds has been followed by defeats at Royston Town and Lowestoft Town. United’s 3-0 win over Easington Sports in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup a week ago last Tuesday did though maintain their recent fine home run of form, now having won their last six games in all competitions and being unbeaten in nine.

St Ives have bolstered their squad this week with the signing of experienced central defender Gavin Hoyte who has done sterling service over many years with the likes of Bedford Town, Biggleswade Town and St Neots Town. For United, full back Matt Taylor is unavailable as he is required by Oxford United whilst after a seven day approach Steve Diggin has opted to join Corby Town.
