Banbury United can confirm the signing of former Stratford Town, Rushall Olympic and AFC Rushden & Diamonds striker Chris Wreh.

The 24 year-old was with Northampton Town as a youngster and then spent a year at the Arsenal academy before playing men’s football at Stony Stratford Town, Barton Rovers, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Aylesbury FC, Newport Pagnell Town and MK Gallacticos.

Chris joined then Southern League Division 1 side Dunstable Town in the summer of 2018, scoring 15 goals for the Bedfordshire side that season before opting to moving up a level to play for Southern League Premier Central side Stratford Town for the start of season 2019/20 and scored eight goals for them before leaving to join Rushall Olympic in January 2020.

At the start of last season Chris returned for a second spell with AFC Rushden & Diamonds, his personal highlight in the shortened season, due to Covid, being his four goal haul in the club’s 7-1 home win over Hitchin Town at the end of September.

Chris is the son of former Arsenal, AS Monaco and Liberian international striker Christopher Wreh and is delighted to have joined the club commenting “I can’t wait to get started, meet the fans and do well.”

United manager Andy Whing commenting on the signing said, “We’ve been after a Number 9 for some time now and are delighted to get Chris on board with us for this season. He’s got a great record at this level and wants to improve, score goals and progress his career. With the attacking players we’ve now got it’s another really exciting signing for us.”
