Banbury United Ladies hit nine at Thame to advance to the Oxfordshire Womens Cup quarter-finals where they will play away to Headington Ladies

This was a game in which the two level gap between Southern Region Women's League side Banbury United and Thames Valley Division Two North side Thame United was evident from the start of the game.

Banbury dominated from the opening whistle but would have to wait until the 12th minute before opening the scoring when Catherine Howse ran through and in on goal struck the ball from 12 yards past the home goalkeeper into the back of the net via the inside of the post.

Five minutes later Howse's pace proved too much for the home defence again and through on goal repeated her neat finish from earlier.

Banbury then hit the bar twice in a two minute spell through Zoe Boote (18 minutes) and Josie Clark (20 minutes) but they did not have to wait long to make it 3-0 as in the 26th minute Howse completed her hat-trick in the space of just 15 minutes, the goal being similar to her first two, breaking through and finishing competently.

Five minutes before half time it became 4-0 when Abi Smith scored her second goal in consecutive games, a good finish from twelve yards.

The second half saw Banbury continue to dominate the game.

In the 51st minute a long kick from Amy Bourton in the Banbury goal was misjudged by the Thame defence and Boote ran through to finish from six yards.

On 65 minutes substitute Chloe Stallwood got on the scoresheet when a long throw from Jenna O'Neil went through to her at the near post and she shotted the ball home from close in.

In the 69th minute it became 7-0 when Alex Ayckbourn struck the ball from just outside the Thame penalty area into the top corner of the net.

With ten minutes to go Stallwood got here second of the game and in stoppage time Clark completed the scoring to make it 9-0.

This win gives Banbury an away quarter-final tie against Thames Valley Counties Division One side Headington Ladies who beat Oxford Brookes University Ladies 3-2 this afternoon in their First Round game
