Banbury United’s goalkeeper, Jack Harding, will be joined by Club Ambassador, Mark Allitt; our Dedicated Football Officer from Thames Valley Police; Alex Locke; and club volunteer Charlie Thompson.
Banbury United’s Jack Harding needs no introduction. Our super goalkeeper, strategic weapon and all-round great guy has had plenty of opportunity to show off his talents in the Vanarama National League North so far this season with a lot of action and an impressive number of clean sheets to his name. He’ll be using the exercise bike session to gently warm up ahead of our FA Trophy match against Nuneaton on Saturday.
Mark Allitt also needs no introduction! As a die-hard Puritan and local businessman – owner of the Revival Mk2 clothing store on Parsons Street – he has led Banbury United’s commercial side for many years and now enjoys a role as Club Ambassador as well as a Red & Gold sponsor.
PC Alex Locke, or Lockey, is Banbury United’s Dedicated Football Officer (DFO) from Thames Valley Police. We’ve all seen the peculiar sight of police on mountain bikes on the hilly, rough terrain of Station Approach (!); now we’ll get to see our favourite man in uniform take to an exercise bike in our clubhouse. Dedicated is a good word to describe Lockey – he’s part of a sustained Club effort to improve the matchday experience for all fans and the town, and we’re delighted to have his support for this event.
Charlie Thompson is studying for his GCSEs while looking after our U18 Development squad’s social media and easing the Club into the exciting world of TikTok. Representing the Banbury United Youth section where he plays for the U15s on Sundays, Charlie has impressed us by taking his support of the club to the next level – writing in and asking where he can help. The Club simply couldn’t carry on without people like Charlie stepping up.
These four riders join previously announced participants: players Finley Tapp and Lawson D’Ath; cyclist Bella Boyles; Banbury United chairman, Ronnie Johnson; Banbury Town Mayor, Councillor Fiaz Ahmed, men’s first team manager, Mark Jones; Banbury United’s community coaches Ryan Jones and Liam Ashby; Banbury United Women’s captain, Chloe Stallwood (and team-mates); England touch rugby player, Laura Anderson; and fitness and wellness coach, Sindy Matthews.
