United’s Away Day To East Anglia

. Banbury United29 Nov 2023 - 21:15

Banbury United play Kings Lynn this Saturday December 2nd

After a somewhat disappointing week of home fixtures which resulted in two losses and a draw, Banbury United are on the road this weekend at East Anglian rivals King’s Lynn.

They will be hoping to keep their excellent away form going against the Linnets at The Walks Ground, King’s Lynn this Saturday 2nd December, kick off 3pm.

Recent victories at Southport and Tamworth should give United confidence against a King’s Lynn side that currently sits in 21st place in the National League North, three places and three points below United.

The Linnets were strongly fancied for promotion last season and eventually finished a close second to champions Fylde, before losing out to Kidderminster in the playoffs.

This season’s results have been far less consistent. The Linnets have won five, drawn seven and lost nine games this term.

King’s Lynn’s November results reflect this inconsistency. Victories away at Rushall Olympic and at home to high flying Scunthorpe have been interspersed with defeats in the league to Spennymoor, Scarborough and Tamworth and a second FA Trophy exit at the hands of Stourbridge.

United Manager, Mark Jones, expects another tight game against opponents scrapping for points to get out of the bottom four. He was pleased with the performance in the last game at home against Curzon Ashton and felt United were unlucky to lose 0-1 especially as the goal was scored so late in the game.

A spate of injuries and suspensions will impact on his team selection for the game.
