Banbury United’s growing team has been joined this week by new apprentice, Liam Ashby. Liam will support the Club’s community coach Ryan Jones in delivering Banbury United’s local schools sports programme and through its sports provision for youngsters in the evenings, weekends and holidays.
Liam will undergo a one-year Level 2 Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship through Ignite in Oxford, for which he gets time off to study alongside his new day job. He was previously part of the Banbury United Academy, studying for the Sports Level 3 qualification at Banbury & Bicester College through Activate Learning.
As a Banbury lad, Liam is already a Banbury United supporter who attends matches on a regular basis.
Lisa Dixon, Banbury United board director, community, said, “It’s great to have Liam on board and to strengthen our community offer. Under Ryan Jones, Liam is going to learn from the best. There is so much he can get involved in around the Club to enable him to build his career in sport and we’re pleased to be able to offer such opportunities to graduates of the Banbury United Academy.”
Welcome Liam.
