We’re recruiting: Head of Marketing and Head of HR

. Banbury United11 Sep 2024 - 13:12

Two new specialist, senior leadership voluntary positions are being advertised to further strengthen the Club

Banbury United FC is recruiting a volunteer Head of Marketing and volunteer Head of Human Resources to join the Club’s leadership team. This is part of the Club’s continued development of the business: to create the highest performing team in our league, both on and off the pitch.

“Our work on the structure of the Club continues with the identification of two key specialist positions to take us to the next step,” says Banbury United Chairman, Wayne Farrell.

“We are searching for like-minded, high calibre, sports-loving leaders with marketing and HR expertise to take care of these specific pieces of the business. Following the recruitment of Carl Parton as General Manager a couple of months ago, these additional appointments will further increase the Board’s overall capacity to accelerate and professionally execute the long list of actions we’ve identified.”

It is the aim that the holders of both roles will be invited in due course to become Board Members, subject to being voted in by the Club’s members. This involves playing a key part in all decision-making at Banbury United.

If you think you could bring something to Banbury United in either role and would like an initial chat, please contact clairedumbreck@banburyunitedfc.co.uk. We are a driven, high-energy team and would love to hear where you think you can fit in. Please check out this section of our website to learn more about how the Club is run.

Current members are reminded that we actively encourage new board member applications at any time.

Head of Marketing

Following a tough couple of years in the National League North, relegation to the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central for this season has brought us the opportunity to regroup, revamp and resurge. After six games, we are joint top in the league thanks to a new manager and a very exciting new squad that gets better with each game. We have a good product, a fresh brand for this season and good results.

Now, we need to get our crowds back and make the most of all our income streams including Clubhouse hire, merchandise and sponsorship.

The Head of Marketing will work closely with our media team, (website, social media, videos, programmes etc.) and commercial team, developing strategies to increase awareness of the matchday experience and Club facilities in the region and generating new leads. We are looking for someone to drive content and promotions through existing marketing channels, as well as exploring new ones.

This role would suit someone with a background in marketing communications who has previous experience of designing and executing engaging, results-focussed campaigns. While we have some volunteer design support within the Club, and can try and recruit more, it would certainly be a benefit for the candidate to have hands-on creative experience and practical working knowledge of design software; someone who is prepared to muck in if needed and to direct others. Perhaps you are a marketing person who is looking to take the next step and develop your management and leadership skills.

Head of HR

Every organisation says its people are its most important asset. This is particularly the case at Banbury United which is fan-owned and where most of the support team is volunteers. We are working hard to ensure that regardless of employment status, whether you are a photographer or youth coach or our first team captain, we foster a positive and effective working environment for everyone at Banbury United.

Our Head of HR will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, ensuring the Club complies with employment laws, and driving initiatives to enhance team member engagement, development, and wellbeing. This role is currently handled by a board member, supported by our general manager, and most of the processes are already in place.

We need a specialist to come in to take on this function, giving it the designated focus it rightly deserves. Duties are as follows:

● Act as the main point of contact for all HR-related inquiries, offering guidance on policies, grievances, and employment law.
● Ensure the Club complies with all employment laws and regulations, including safeguarding and equal opportunity policies.
● Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for both football and non-football, paid and unpaid, roles.
● Oversee the Club’s onboarding programmes for new hires.
● Work closely with the Club and Manager to manage player contracts.
● Implement performance management systems for staff and players, ensuring regular appraisals, feedback, and development plans are in place.
● Identify training needs and organise professional development opportunities.
● Ensure proper record-keeping and administration of contracts, salaries, and other employment matters.
● Develop initiatives to improve staff engagement, job satisfaction, and overall team spirit within the club.

These are two unique opportunities which will help boost and develop your career as well as significantly enhancing your spare time! Please consider getting in touch and introducing yourself: email clairedumbreck@banburyunitedfc.co.uk
