Defender is Club’s first new player of the 2024-25 season

Defender Yaw Ofosu is Simon Hollyhead’s first new summer signing, following the player’s departure from Alvechurch FC.

Yaw began his senior career at Newport Pagnell in the United Counties League before earning a move to Cambridge City in November 2019. His spell at the Lillywhites saw him accumulate over 100 appearances across four years, winning accolades such as players’ player and supporters’ player of the year along the way. This alerted the attention of Step 3 side, Alvechurch, and they secured his signature ahead of the 23/24 season. Last season, Ofosu become a pivotal player in the heart of their defence. His strong, combative style of defending meant he was a regular starter, making 40 appearances and scoring three goals.
The central defender left Alvechurch with a Worcestershire Senior Cup medal to his name and is now ready for a new challenge under Simon Hollyhead at Banbury United.

The 27-year-old shared his delight in joining the Puritans, saying, “Simon is a big reason for joining Banbury. The conversations we’ve had were very positive with a clear plan. I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to play for this club.”

Welcome Yaw Ofosu!
