Community sessions at The Hill

In November 2022, Banbury United announced that Sport England granted funding to the Football Club, as part of Sport England’s Together Fund, This is part of the new District-wide YouMove programme to help families be active.

We held the first of our Active Together sessions as part of the programme this week. A healthy number of families came together at The Hill Sports and Community in Dover Avenue this Wednesday, One delighted parent commented: “My little one had so much fun, he’s since fallen asleep on my lap! Thank you for today’s amazing session.”

The session was run by Sindy Matthews. The club are pleased to introduce Sindy who will be working with us to deliver this new initiative.

Sindy has a wealth of experience working to keep families fit and healthy, through imaginative, creative and fun sessions for all age groups. We are delighted to have Sindy on board.

Sessions are held at The Hill Sports and Community Centre, Dover Avenue, Banbury, OX16 0JD on Wednesdays between 10:00 and 11:00. These morning classes are aimed at families with young children from the age of 8 weeks to 3 years of age: they will start with singing and nursery rhymes – our warm-up, to engage with our little ones. Then a fitness session will take place, where families can do exercises such as squats, sit-ups and press-ups with their toddlers.

In February, an after-school session will be added on Wednesdays from 16:00 until 17:00, to encourage older children to take part with their families.

All classes are free. Content will vary from week to week, featuring High-intensity interval training (HIIT) style; Legs Bums and Tums (LBT), Obstacle classes; Pilates… “I’d like the classes to be fun – and interesting – for all the family. And I plan to get everyone involved in the activities!” says Sindy.

For more information, or to book a session for your family, contact the club, communitycoach@banburyunitedfc.co.uk or just turn up at The Hill Community Centre for the sessions.
