A much changed United side, due to Oxfordshire FA rules requiring players to be registered seven days prior to the date originally set for the fixture back in January, battled really well to take Conference North side Oxford City to extra time but conceded four in this period to exit the Senior Cup.
Albi Skendi agreed to help the club out at the last minute, living locally, to enable the club to field eleven eligible players.
United went in front in the 22nd minute when Conor Collins lobbed the home custodian from the edge of the penalty area.
City equalised in the 36th minute through Mike Symons who headed home a right wing corner to make it 1-1 at half time.
United were back in front three minutes into the second half when a poor pass from City’s Paul Stonehouse went to Adeyinka Talabi who found himself with just the goalkeeper to beat on the edge of the penalty area and he duly fired it home past the custodian.
City piled on the pressure and equalised through a second goal from Symons on 67 minutes
United fought hard and battled well to hold out to the end of normal time.
However, City would take the lead for the first time in the game five minutes into the first period of extra time through former Puritan Declan Benjamin.
The game was effectively sealed in the second minute of the second period of extra time when City scored a fourth goal through a stunning 30 yard strike from Paul Stonehouse. Further goals before the end of the game would follow from Ake Chrediy and Symons, the latter completing his hat-trick.
