United were 2-0 down after just fifteen minutes through goals from Jamie Burrows and Sam O’Neill but three goals in the space of nine minutes at the half hour point put Banbury 3-2 up at half time. Firstly on 30 minutes a Conor Collins corner from the right was headed home from ten yards by Luke Fathers. Then four minutes later Nic Evangelinos was given time to shoot on the edge of the penalty area and he struck the ball into the bottom corner of the net. In the 38th minute of the game Evangelinos got his second goal of the game firing the ball home from around six yards to put Banbury in front.
Olney equalised ten minutes into the second half through Jason Goldman and as full time approached it looked as though it was going to be all square going into next Wednesday's second leg but in the 90th minute Evangelinos completed his hat-trick to make it 4-3 to Banbury.
