Though Taunton had the better of the opening twenty minutes, it was United who would thus rather against the run of play make the breakthrough in the 23rd minute. Mark Bell hit the ball long down the right for Felipe Barcelos who got on to it down by the by-line and he then passed back to the incoming Zac McEachran just inside the penalty area who then turned inside to make room for a shot, hitting the ball with venom from 12 yards into the bottom corner of the net beating Lloyd Irish at the near post.
The remainder of the half was an even affair but with no further goals United led by the single goal at the interval.
Taunton had a good spell midway through the second half but Banbury defended well and the visitors didn't force Jack Harding into having to make any saves of note.
Then with ten minutes to go the vital second goal came when a free kick from just outside the penalty area on the right taken by Darius Browne was put low to the near post where captain Andy Gunn got ahead of Owen Irisht o knock the ball home.
With United playing out the final ten minutes they were back in the Premier Division after just one season in the South & West Division.
