After this three goal winning margin over Slough Town, United now know that if they win at Chesham United on Saturday and Frome Town lose at home to league high-flyers St Neots Town then they will move out of the bottom three and maintain their Premier Division status

It was an uneventful first 15 minutes to the game but on 16 minutes Chris Henry went on a run down the left wing and then got the better of Jacob Daffern before his shot from a narrow angle was tipped away at the near post by Leigh Bedwell for a corner.

Banbury’s first opening would come in the 19th minute when Jordan Green took the ball inside the penalty area from the right wing before picking out Kynan Isaac with a pass but the Luton Town loanee shot straight at the goalkeeper from a central position just inside the penalty area.

A minute later Isaac had an even better chance when Shepherd Murombedzi won the ball off Adam Martin midway inside his own half before putting Isaac away down the centre who got ahead of right back Sean Fraser but then his attempt to lift the ball over Luke Williams in the Slough goal from 12 yards failed to have the height or power to trouble the custodian who collected the ball comfortably

Midway through the half Slough began to have much the better of the game, putting Banbury under some pressure though Bedwell was not required to make any saves of note. The nearest Slough came to finding a way through was deep into stoppage time when Danile Read’s pass put Ed Smith through on goal but the shot from the edge of the penalty area went just wide.

Two minutes into the second half and Isaac put Murombedzi away down the left who took the ball inside before doing well to make room for a shot but his effort from 12 yards was comfortably saved by Williams.

Two minutes later though and Slough went close when Bed Edwards put Ed Smith through on goal but Bedwell came to United’s rescue spreading himself well to make an excellent save with his legs as Smith fired the ball goalwards from just six yards out. The save may well have turned out to be a turning point in the game as just three minutes later United would take the lead when Billy Jeffreys miscontrolled the ball half way inside his own half, allowing Isaac to collect it and then flick it forward to the running through Leam Howards who took it inside the penalty area down the left hand side before superbly lifting the ball over Williams into the top of the net.

In the 56th minute Ed Smith blasted the ball over the bar from a narrow angle on the right but it would be United who would get the crucial second goal in the 63rd minute when a Corner from the right taken by Isaac saw Tom Ryan cause havoc around the six yard box with the ball falling to Marvin Martin who thumped the ball home from five yards into the roof of the net.

Banbury were now comfortable and looking like adding more goals. A third goal would duly arrive, coming in the 76th minute when an Isaac corner from the left was put right under the crossbar with Williams not able to deal with it and only succeeding in palming it up onto the woodwork with the ball coming back down at the far post to Leam Howards who knocked it home from close range.

Five minutes from time and United nearly made it number four when a header out of defence by Jacob Walcott was picked up by Isaac on the half way line who ran at the Slough defence taking the ball to just 15 yards out before unleashing a shot which Williams did exceptionally well to save low down to his left at the expense of a corner.
