Late goals from Leam Howards and Andy Gunn earn United a point away to Cinderford Town

With Ricky Johnson and Jon Steedman unavailable it was a changed United side that did duty at Cinderford with Bradley Cox coming in at centre-back and Bradley Partner at left back, both making their debuts. In addition Carl Tappin started the game with Jack McLaughlin having to be satisfied with a place on the bench.

United got off to the worst of starts going behind as early as the fifth minute when Ethan Moore struck the ball over Jack Harding from the edge of the penalty area.

Banbury responded well to going behind and midway through the half had a good spell. On 27 minutes a 25 yard shot from Callum White had the power to sting the hands of Alex Harris in the Cinderford goal. A minute later excellent play down the right from the impressive White earned United a corner. ZacMcEachran took the flag-kick low to Mark Bell just inside the penalty area on the near side who made room for himself and shot into the bottom corner of the net.

On 37 minutes United were indebted to Harding for keeping them on level terms as he made a good save when Kieran Dovey shot from 10 yards after the Cinderford player had broken through.

United began the second half well enough. Seven minutes into this period Leam Howards forced the home custodian to save well from six yards out but just before the hour mark Cinderford would re-take the lead when Garyn Preen took the ball around Bradley Partner down the right before running along the bye-line and then crossing into the centre where Moore knocked the ball home from close range.

Two minutes later and Moore went close to getting his hat-trick when firing just wide from the edge of the penalty area. He was not to be denied his third goal though as on 70 minutes Andy Gunn was penalised in the penalty area for a handball offence and Moore comfortably converted.

Despite the two goal deficit United did work their way back into the game. On 75 minutes Duran Martin flashed a shot just wide from 20 yards and then in the 83rd minute a long range effort from Bell went just over the bar.

With five minutes to go United reduced the deficit to a single goal. Howards burst through the centre and though he looked to have missed his opportunity, a home defender kicked the ball against United’s leading goalscorer with the ball rebounding back into the net.

United now pushed forward with new belief that they could get something out of the game.

In the 86th minute a Bell effort from the edge of the penalty area was well saved low down by Harris but the equaliser would come just a minute later when Andy Gunn pushed up for a set play fired the ball home into the top of the net from six yards.
