Today was a different story, the work we’ve done in preseason and training as we continue to embed our new signings into the team saw us excel as we ran out 9-2 winners.

The communication and understanding throughout the team was pleasing to witness in one of our strongest performances for some time.

After a few missed chances, Rachel Aspinell played a ball out of defence to debutant Jessica Soares whose cross was converted by Phoebe Williams (another player making their league debut) ghosting in on the back post to calmly put the ball past the Leighton keeper in the 14th minute.

In the 16th minute Katie Kukla continued her excellent scoring with the first of 4 goals today latching on to a pass from Kyra Cotter and finishing confidently.

In the 19th minute Jessica Soares picked the ball up in her own half and ran the length of the pitch to score a fantastic individual goal to make it 3-0.

An excellent pass from Kailey Hardy reached the grateful Katie Kukla to net her 2nd of the afternoon to make it 4-0. Katie then turned provider setting up Kyra Cotter to make it 5-0 before Jessica Soares scored her 2nd goal following excellent pressure on the Leighton goalkeeper from Michelle Matthews, also making her league debut.

Half Time 6-0

Banbury made a few changes early in the second half and continued to get the better of their opposition but had to wait until the 72nd minute to add to their tally when Player of the Match Jessica Soares saw her cross deflected in for an unfortunate own goal quickly followed by a Katie Kukla penalty in the 76th minute and a 4th for Katie on 82 minutes.

Leighton Woodside showed an element of resilience and were rewarded for their efforts on 80 and 85 minutes to complete the scoring.
