THAME, Oxfordshire – Banbury Academy faced a challenging afternoon on the road, falling to an 8-0 defeat against a strong BASE Academy side in a fixture hosted at Thame United.

The match proved difficult from the outset, with the home team quickly establishing dominance. By the half-time whistle, Banbury found themselves trailing 5-0.

Despite the significant deficit, the Banbury lads demonstrated commendable spirit and refused to give up, maintaining their effort and competitive intensity throughout the second half. While BASE Academy managed to find the net three more times before the final whistle, bringing the final score to 8-0, the visiting team's determination was clear for all to see.

Midfielder Kyle Rayson was the standout player for the Academy, delivering a spirited and tenacious performance that encapsulated the team's fighting attitude, even in difficult circumstances.

"It was certainly a difficult day for us, and being 5-0 down at the break puts any team under immense pressure. However, I am incredibly proud that the lads never let their heads drop. They showed real fight and spirit, which is a massive positive we take away from this. Kyle Rayson, in particular, was phenomenal and showed true leadership today.
