Match Report: BUFC Academy 5-
Date: Wednesday 21
Competition: league
Conditions: Heavy rain and horrible playing surface made for a challenging afternoon.
Final Score: BUFC Academy 5 – 0 Reading Community
BUFC Academy produced a strong, professional performance to secure a convincing 5-0 victory over Reading Community, bouncing back impressively after losing twice to the same opponents earlier in the season.
First Half:
In difficult conditions, the lads kept things simple and clinical. They took their chances well and went into the break with a two-goal lead courtesy of strikes from Kiryowa and Middleton. The basics were done right – solid defending, good movement, and sharp finishing – despite the weather making every pass and touch a test.
Second Half:
The opening 15 minutes were edgy as Reading Community pushed for a way back into the game. However, once the team settled, they took full control again. Middleton added two more goals to complete his hat-trick, and Harper rounded off the scoring with a well-taken finish. There were further chances to extend the margin, but 5-0 was a fair reflection of the dominance and a result we'll happily take.
Manager comments:
- Mike Ford – Outstanding attitude throughout. He dug in, worked tirelessly for the team, and provided excellent support to those around him. A real leader on the pitch.
James Suarez – Disappointed for the lads – we weren't at our best in certain moments and ultimately got what we deserved: nothing from the game.
Credit to the squad for staying focused, doing the basics well under tough conditions, and finishing the job strongly.
A clean sheet, five goals, and three points (or a morale-boosting win) – job done.
Up the Academy!
