Banbury United made the short trip to Jubilee Park, Bloxham for this evenings friendly against a team playing in the age group above under 15 Bloxham.

United took a big squad of 18 with an eye on rotating the team and playing a number of players in different positions.

We started strongly with Jake making some strong surging runs down the right and whipping a couple of dangerous balls into the box, that the strikers failed to take advantage of.

The first goal of the game was great strike. Cian picked the ball up outside the penalty box and curled in a cracking effort with his left foot.
It was one way traffic at this stage with the keeper being forced into action on a couple more ocassions before the second goal game.

The first wave of subsitutions took place, and this affected the flow of the game slightly. Bloxham pulled a goal back with their first really threat in the Banbury United half. A clincial finished from their striker giving Myron no chance. 1-2.

Cian scored his second goal of the game to restore the two goal advantage, some nice interchange in midfield led to cian racing though and sliding the ball under the keeper 1-3.

As half time approached United took a further grip of the game as Mick played an excellent ball splitting the defence for Cian again to run on to, his shot was well saved, but he showed the desire and commitment to be first to the lose ball and slot away for his hat trick. 1-4.

Half time came and several subs were brought on Nathan, Lennon, Will, Seb, Hayden and Tom all entering the pitch.

Bloxham started the second half brightly and their lively forward initially looked to be through on goal, but an excellent recovery and well timed tackle by Aidan cleared the danger. The defence had handled the physcial threat superbly.

It was soon 1-5. Will had come on and was looking very sharp some need passing, and quick feet led to Will beating his man and hitting a low firm drive past the keeper.

Will wasnt finished there and after a great through ball by Luke, Will reacted quickly beating the keeper to the ball and poking it past him into the net. 1-6

Nathan pulled off a tremendous one handed tip over the bar to keep bloxham out, before they did get there second, their forward curling a long range effort into the roof of the net.2-6

Two minutes from time the game was wrapped up nicely, Will threaded a clever ball through two defenders for Cian to race onto and power past the keeper. His fourth. 2-7

All in all a cracking game of football and an excellent performance by the boys!
